Recently-retired jockey Ray Cochrane will be booking mounts for Johnny Murtagh in Britain next year, it has been announced.
Murtagh has enjoyed a highly-successful season with 10 European Group One winners to his credit including six for Sir Michael Stoute in the absence, through injury, of the Newmarket trainer`s stable jockey Kieren Fallon.
'I`ll be doing Johnny`s rides over here - he asked me yesterday,' said Cochrane, who last month became Frankie Dettori`s agent. 'It`ll be a good job.
'But Johnny is a seasoned professional and he`s under no illusion that he`ll ride 10 Group One winners next year - not with Kieren about.'
Cochrane`s new role as jockey`s agent has proved popular with his former weighing room colleagues.
'Seven other jockeys have approached me to book rides for them,' added Cochrane. 'I`m quite surprised how it has snowballed.
'I`ll be doing some more later on but I`m not going to rush things. I don`t want to find I`ve taken too much on and I can`tdo the job right.
'At present I`m booking rides for Frankie and Johnny and I`m delighted to be doing that.'
